Well, where can I start with these guys?! I went to school with Neil - we were in a few classes together, but lost touch when he moved away for sixth form. We got in contact again through the awesome medium of facebook and I was thrilled to hear he'd met a beautiful lady and was happily settled in London. Neil told me that he and his fiance Jenni, were planning their wedding and took an interest in my work, so I was delighted when the lovely couple asked me to come along and take some photos for them.
Rob and I headed down to London on the Friday so that we could get to Jenni & Neil's early in the morning to take the bridal prep photos. Good job we did too, as there were M1 closures and therefore a lot of extra congestion heading in to London, due to a fire on the motorway!
When we arrived at Jenni's we were greeted by a serene Jenni, her incredibly smiley and welcoming friend Nikki and a slightly flustered, but beautiful nonetheless, Ally (Jenni's bridesmaid). She was understandably a little worried as she couldn't find an open shop, that sold tights! This was soon remedied as Rob stepped in to action as my "helper" and general dogs-body (heee heee!) and drove Ally to Sainsbury's to get a pair. This resulted in a rather hilarious story that Rob re-told later in the day...suffice to say, he now understands what denier means!!
The bride, Jenni, is so talented and a craft lover like myself. There were so many DIY beauties sprinkled throughout the day, the bridal and bridesmaid's bouquet being one of them.
The rest of the morning was spent chatting, laughing (something which seemed to happen all day) and generally having a lovely, calm, time. I floated around the house taking photos and helping out with prep where I could.
Jenni sourced her lacy fishtail number from abroad and teamed it with some stunning silver etsy jewellery (a gift from Neil) and a pair of yummy Irregular Choice heels.
How awesome is their front door!!
Another thing we have in common is Westies - I had one (Ruby) as a child and Jenni and Neil have an extremely well behaved and perky Westie called Gemma.
Jenni did her own hair and make-up. She looked absolutely stunning...
At 10:00ish Jenni's Dad and the bridal car arrived and the men spent the time waiting for Jenni to finish her prep, by talking in the April sunshine...probably about cars!!
We all then headed off to Woolwich Town Hall...
I met up with Neil at the ceremony venue, he was with the Brum contingency - who were all excitable about the day ahead.
The ceremony was so gorgeously moving - I don't think there was a dry eye in the house! I especially found it difficult to keep the tears away during Nikki's reading of the lyrics to Somersault by Zero7.
After the ceremony everyone headed to Surrey Docks City Farm for the reception. What an amazing place to have a wedding reception!
The farm is right on the edge of the Thames and is home to chickens, goats, sheep, ponies, ducks and pigs.
The wedding breakfast was catered for by the on-site Italian cafe and was a delicious Spring roast, followed by homemade chocolate wedding cake.
After lunch everyone headed out to the water's edge, along the Thames to chat and relax.
How stunning is Jenni's engagement ring?!...
The fab day finished at around 5:00, when we ferried the tired, but blissfully contented, happy couple home, before heading back to Leicester.
